Here are some scans of artwork that Hobo's dad has done
(All Images are copyright protected © copyright -1996 - 2004 © read me)

You will note that I enjoy working with black, white and brown tones
for Bearded Collie artwork.  Currently I am experimenting with landscapes.
See also a brief  history below the artwork. Of Course the real art is much bigger than these, But you will get the idea. And, you can click on the images to see twice as big. The doglinks products area has some links to pages where you can have an artist do portraits of your own dog.

Beardie Looking at you Sketch (pen) - Looking BW - Sept 2001
I started this as a concept for a painting. The first painting will just be to feel out how the paint might flow in a similar size. Later to be incorporated into a larger painting on canvas.

Completed in February 2001. Beardie Heads Study
This is done in acrylic paints on a heavy water color stock
Although Hobo and Checkers were not the original models, they became models as I worked with the facial and eye expressions. The original concept was one I thought of after doing a graphic for the eBeardie auction pages.

An Acrylic Painting for a gift to Hobo's Beardie Girlfriend in Japan, Daisy.

A repainted print of this painting will be offered at the 2000 BCCA National Specialty
Auction.  An original print, specially matted, prepared and painted with the same media as the original.  Better than just a print - a whole new painting (you are looking at it now - frame not included)

Some more Sketches, Pen, Charcoal and pencil

How or why did I begin working on Beardie art?

I have been doing computer artwork for a number of years.  I thought that working with a pencil,
pen, or even a paintbrush might be easier.  Actually, it started as a joke.  I was sitting with a few friends at the
National Specialty auction in 1998.  As various pieces of artwork were being bid off, I began sketching (for
the first time) a Beardie head.  One person, John Deegan, made an off hand joke that I should do something for
the next year's National Specialty.  We all had a good laugh.  Then, about 3 or 4 months before the specialty in
1999, I gave it a try.  The result was that one of my paintings received a 3rd Place in the Art Contest.  Another
was bid on in the auction and brought in a nice amount to help with rescue and other BCCA projects.
I have no formal training - so I purchased a few books on the subject.  I have yet to open those books except
for a brief moment.  Instead I developed my own style.  I expect one day I will begin reading through the text.
Meanwhile, prints of "Daisy" above, are being sold and donated to raise even more money for rescue.  I have
developed my own method for the prints, I repaint them, so they in fact are each original drawing on their own.
