Judges Bio: Mrs Janet Wood
PEPPERJAY

I have owned Beardies since 1982, acquiring my first show dog Tamevalley Karibou in 1987. I have shown 6 Beardies to achieve their Stud Book Numbers, 3 of which I have made up to English Champions. I have bred only one litter, as I only breed if I intend to keep a puppy. I kept a bitch from this litter and she went on to gain her Championship this is my Ch Pepperjay Always ‘n’ Forever.

I first judged Bearded Collies in 1991 and my first Championship appointment was in 2003.

I class myself as one of the most fortunate people in the Beardie world, due to the fact I had Maureen Reader (Tamevalley) as my mentor and friend. I was honoured to show Maureens bitches for her, and I still have one of Maureens girls here at Pepperjay namely Ch Tamevalley Manhatten Mist (Katy).

I have attended American and Canadian National Specialties and a Regional Specialty as a spectator and I am honoured to be asked to judge at this years Great Lakes Specialty, I know Maureen would be very proud.

Rosie Schroeder

I got my first Beardie in 1977 and have shown in conformation, obedience, and agility during those years. I have finished many champions and bred several litters with many of those puppies finishing. I have purposely not bred as much as some others since I am concerned about the numbers of dogs needing homes. My dogs are first my companions, and I attempt to give each a full life depending on his/her capabilities. Some dogs are destined to be special, as was my Ch Willowmead Mid-Winter Boy, ROMX, and Ch Pipadene Hosanna, ROM, who won BOS at the 1993 National Specialty. Others are happier doing agility or obedience work. It has always been my goal to try to allow my dogs to achieve as best suits their temperament and needs.

I have judged sweeps at the BCCA National Specialty, Chicagoland BCC, National Capitol BCC, BCC of Southern CA and have done herding breeds at many matches over the years, including the Louisville, KY match with an entry of over 600 and where I was chosen to do Best in Match.

I have been very active in the BCCA and have served as Recording Secretary, Board Member, and President. I have served on many committees including the nominating committee several times, Judges Education Committee, Fundraising Committee, and as founder and chair of Beardie Camp. I have worked extensively with rescue as well. During my presidency of the BCCA we published the "Illustrated Standard of the Bearded Collie". This publication truly "raised the bar" for all breed clubs, and is an accomplishment of which I am very proud.

I also have put together the Power Point Program that is currently used for Judges' Education Seminars, and I am presenting the seminar at the 2005 National Specialty.
