09/10/2008 Good news! Marci was adopted this weekend. I had quite a bit of traffic and inquiries on her, but we needed to hold out for just the right fit. We found it: Barbara and her partner Sidney of Birmingham, AL drove up last night. We spent all morning together and Marci rode off not too long ago with her head hanging out their BMW. Marci will have a dog sibling her age and plenty of attention (not to mention many trips to the beach). Origional Story 7/2008 Marci was dumped at a shelter in Kentucky with a litter of puppies. She was a great mom and gave her puppies all she had to give. When Marci first came to BONE she was covered with fleas and had scratched herself raw in several places. She has no undercoat to speak of right now, but when her coat comes back in, she should be a real knockout! Marci was initially VERY timid, but once she knew that she was safe, she really blossomed! Marci is between 18 months and 2 years old. She is about 16 inches tall at the shoulder. She is one SKINNY girl, only weighing about 28 pounds now, but is eating well and a good weight for her would be around 35 pounds. Marci has been spayed, is heartworm negative, on heartworm preventative, and is up to date on all her vaccinations. Marci still has a lot of puppy in her and loves to run and play with my dogs. She is a rough and tumble kind of girl, but also plays very gently with small dogs. Marci does NOT like cats and will chase and bark at them. She LOVES toys, but also apparently has the Beardie toy de-stuffing gene. She is extremely smart and was very easy to housebreak. Marci can be a bit of a barker, especially when looking at the windows and people dare to walk down her sidewalk. Marci is looking for a home where she can run and play to her heart’s content and perhaps a canine companion or two.
