Georgie in Kentucky
Has a Home

2-3-2008 Good News Friends- Georgie has been adopted by a wonderful single man who lives in Cincinnati. Keith is a human rights lawyer who lives alone and was looking for a companion. Since Georgie is so mellow, absolutely adores men, lives for walks, and loves being the center of her human's world... we think this was a great match. After spending about 3 hours with us (and Georgie) this morning, Kieth and Georgie left for Cincinnati not too long ago. Thanks to all who helped locate her at the shelter, pull her, and help spread the word that there was a great dog looking for a home of her own. Let's count this one as a success! Howell

Original Story01/14/08 -Georgie joined her BONE foster family in Louisville after turning up as a stray in a central Kentucky shelter. Lucky for Georgie, there was a team of dedicated volunteers working to find her a safe environment. She has transitioned from a trembling shelter dog (not happy with such a scary place) to a well-adjusted bouncing neardie.

Georgie is estimated to be between 5 and 7 years old. This middle-aged neardie has a warm, gentle spirit, but also the characteristic bouncy personality. At 38 pounds she is a great medium-sized dog who is healthy, spayed, and up to date on all of her shots. She is housetrained and is well mannered. Georgie has a laid-back personality and gets along great with other dogs and even cats. She is not much of a player with toys or other dogs, but just enjoys being around her humans and a good scratch on the belly. Georgie

From what we can tell from her early shelter photo, she had a long, thick wavy coat and very fuzzy face. Because of some tangles, the shelter workers shaved her. She is not happy about her new buzz cut, but we are trying to convince Georgie that her beautiful coat will grow back quickly. When her coat comes in full, she will be a knock out!  In the meantime, she sports a cozy sweater that reads 100% mutt (it should say 100% Neardie) to help her weather the cold temperatures on our walks.

Georgie is looking for a warm home of her own. Check out the following pictures from the shelter and then the day she arrived at her foster home.
