Riley in Kentucky
Has a Home

09/02/07 - Riley bounced her way down the block to a forever home very close to her former foster home. When we took Riley for her daily walk, so many neighbors were taken by her sweet personality that Riley found a home in familiar territory with the Meyer family. She has a whole slew of human playmates to romp with ranging in age from 2 - 6. She also goes running with her new mom and meets her former shaggy foster brothers for play dates at the park between our homes. Neardies are slowly taking over the neighborhood and we could not be happier.

Original Story

Date Rescued: 7/15/07
Dog Location: Louisville, KY
Size and color: adult, tan and black, 45 pounds

My name is Riley. I am a neardie looking for a fabulous home. I am 2-3 years old young female and weigh about 45 pounds. My foster mom thinks I am one lucky shaggy dog as I was pulled from the same dangerous shelter as another BONE puppy Ellie (see Ellie under the success stories link). There might even be some relation as I had puppies not too long ago. However, I am feeling better and safer now that I am spayed.

My hair was a tangled mess when my foster mom first touched me. I also had so many scabs from itching. My fur was so matted that it was pinching my back legs, rear, and back. She says that I look like a baboon now (after a close cut). I still have my shaggy head though (no mats there), and I am sure my black and tan coat will be pretty in no time. I was an owner surrender and probably did not have a good past.

But, mom says I have a sparkle in my eye and that I am a stupendous pup. I just love being petted. I am nervous at first, but as soon as I learn that you love me, I just go nuts with excitement. My tails thumps non-stop. The yard is great! Walks are great! And being around kind humans is a dream come true.
