Has a Home

04/23/07 - Sadie Mae is a very lovable Neardie who stole our hearts when she crawled in our laps and gave us a big slurp!! She came to live with us the weekend after Valentine’s Day and immediately bonded with our household of adults. She loves to play with her toys and grab our wrists with her jaw to pull us to where she wants us to be. We love to watch her run and leap. Her mottled gray silky fur looks beautiful blowing in the wind and she has gorgeous golden brown eyes that are very soulful.

Shortly after getting Sadie, we began looking at "Lucky" on the BONE web site. Then we got a call from Carolyn Savage asking, "Hey, didn’t you say you may want TWO Neardies?" On St. Patrick’s Day Dave, Sadie Mae, and I went to "visit" Lucky and ended up bringing him on home with us. He was smitten with Sadie Mae and she with him so how could we say no?

We renamed Lucky to Harty, which has some sentimental significance for us. He is tan and beige with striking icy blue eyes. He was very shy the first few days but has come to love toys and to play with Sadie. He has an extremely rough tongue so when he licks my face I get an exfoliation and micro-dermabrasion!! My complexion has never looked so good.

Both dogs are about the same weight of 45 pounds and the same size. Sadie is a little larger, but Harty is more muscular. They love to run and walk side-by-side and wrestle with each other. They spend a lot of time playing tug and slinging their toys at each other. Usually they romp around early in the morning, late afternoon, and then again right before bedtime. They have worn a track in our backyard from their galloping hours of galloping.

We are very blessed to have our "wolf and sheep" and are so thankful they were saved for us to enjoy. Thank you BONE for what you do.

Original Story 02/24/07 I'm Lucky, and you will be too if you can get me to come live with you! I'm a little over a year old, and almost all Beardie! Don't let those gorgeous blue eyes fool you, I have the bounce, I have the wiggle, and I absolutely LOVE to give kisses and be loved! I still have to be neutered, but that will happen very soon, and then I'll be all ready to come live with you! I'm good with other Beardies -- at least the two here at my foster home -- and I just LOVE people! I know some basic commands like 'sit', 'down' and 'shake' and I'll hold my front paw up while you scratch my chest.

I can be a bit shy with some people, but I like most everybody I meet. I could use a little work on my leash manners, but I don't pull too much, and go where my owners want me to go. My other family had to give me up because I was labeled a 'nuisance animal' by animal control because I climbed my fence and wandered the neighborhood a lot. I'll need a taller fence (my old owners only had a 4-foot chain link fence, and I could climb that easily). My old owners also said I tended to chew things, but so far I've been good in my new foster home.

You can see how cute I am, but you have no idea how sweet and lovable I am. They call ME lucky, but you'll call yourself lucky if you get to adopt me!
