Bert In California
Has a Home

03/18/07 - Bert has a home!

Bert is one lucky dog, having found a great home with the Tackett family, including their cat Dot and bird Jitterbug.  The Tacketts live in a beautiful coastal community in Mendocino County, California, and are well acquainted with Bearded Collies and Neardies through their former neighbor, Barbara Makris (A BONE volunteer) who facilitated Bert's adoption.

Original Story 2/20/07- When his foster mom first went to the very crowded, high-kill shelter to see Bert, she found a very sad, scared, matted little guy. Bert was very thin and stressed from his ordeal, but has really blossomed in the month that he's been in foster care.

Bert is a delightful, diminutive Neardie who stands about 18 inches tall at the shoulder and weighs about 25 pounds, but could still use another pound or two. Other than being a bit underweight, he received a good report from the vet. Thankfully, he is heartworm negative. Bert is approximately two years old.

Bert has a jaunty little walk and does his own version of the "Snoopy happy dance" at meal time. He is one entertaining little guy. Bert is housebroken and has earned the right to  be free in his foster mom's house. Bert gets along well with toddlers, adults, and other dogs.

He LOVES to give kisses and enjoys attention, but isn't needy or demanding. Bert is a darling little shaggy boy that deserves a home of his own. Bert is currently in San Francisco and will not be shipped.
