Murphy in Indiana
Has a Home

2/1/06 - Murphy has a home! Murphy and I went to Louisville to meet his new dad, Greg Brown. Greg’s first comment was, “Gosh, he’s cute.” Murphy checked out the yard and gave his new dad a big hug and a sloppy Beardie kiss. Murphy will even have a new Beardie brother, Buddy, to play with everyday! Murphy and Buddy, also a rescue, are about the same size and they both have that friendly Beardie personality. Even though we will miss Murphy, the wag of his tail and the smile on his face told me that he has found a home of his own!

Original Story 1/22/06 - Murphy is a delightful Neardie. I call him my “Beardie Doodle” because he looks like a Bearded Collie/Poodle cross due to his coloring and coat texture. He is mainly black with white on his chest, but has white hairs throughout his coat. His legs and beard are black and gray. He doesn’t seem to be a much of a shedder either. Murphy is 18 – 24 months old, 17 - 18 inches tall and is a thin 33 pounds. When he fills out, (he’s eating well) he should weight about 38 pounds.

Murphy has wonderful house manners and is completely housebroken and crate trained. He does like to chew and hasn’t quite learned where the dog toys are in my house, so I keep him crated when I’m gone for his own safety. Murphy is great with my dogs and is good with cats, too. He is very quiet. I’ve yet to hear him bark! Murphy loves to be brushed and have his tummy rubbed. He wants to keep me in sight and will follow me from room to room, but will curl up in a corner out of the way if I’m busy or stay in one room for any length of time.

Murphy hasn’t met anyone that he doesn’t love and he’s such a charmer, that everyone falls for him, too! He walks well on lead and loves to ride in the car. Murphy visited my first grade classroom where he was in heaven! Even with all the commotion, he was so calm, giving gentle kisses to every child. Murphy would be absolutely wonderful as a child’s best friend and has a great future as a therapy dog.

Murphy’s only vice is that he is a bit of a beggar. He will sit and look at you with his soulful brown eyes while you’re eating, hoping you’ll drop a crumb his way.
