Digby in Indiana
Has a Home

12/31/05 - Digby will begin the New Year in his very own forever home in Toronto, Canada!  Marilyn and Draper Wood had recently lost their beloved Beardie, Moppette at the age of 14 ½. They were looking for a smaller Beardie-looking dog and had been considering another breed, but they still wanted that great Beardie personality. It was as if they were looking just for Digby! They drove all the way from Toronto to Indianapolis to meet him, and Digby welcomed them with kisses. He knew the minute they walked in our door that this was his family. Digby will now be loved, spoiled, and never left out in the cold to fend for himself again.

We will greatly miss this delightful little character but are so happy that he has found a family of his own to love!

Original Story 12/18/05 - Digby ended up in a local Indiana shelter when his people moved and forgot to take him. A neighbor called the shelter so he could get out of the cold. Digby is a diminutive Beardie mix, about 15-16 inches tall at the shoulder and weighing 35 pounds. He is approximately 18 months old.

Digby is housebroken plus! He hasn’t offered to be destructive in anyway and has earned the right to be loose in my home and has been fine. He gets along well with my Beardies, although he prefers humans to any dogs. He is a bit jealous of the other dogs, and will give a low growl when he doesn’t want them to interfere with his “people time” or take his toy. He is a great cuddler and very social. He just loves to be petted and cuddled and will tap you with his paw if you are finished and he isn’t. Digby is inquisitive, playful, and smart, but if you’re busy, he’s content to find a quiet place out of household traffic to catch a quick snooze. He needs some work on walking nicely on a leash as he tends to pull. He is missing several front teeth due to accident or an injury, but that doesn’t slow him down—he loves his supper! I have not seen any food aggression and he will let me put my hand in his food bowl while he’s eating. Digby passed the kids test with flying colors, accompanying me to my first grade classroom where he had 20 children calling his name, petting, and trying to get him to chase. We wagged his tail the entire time! Digby would be great as a therapy dog.

Digby would be fine with a household with other dogs, but would also adore being the center of attention as an only dog. He has not been cat tested.

Digby’s only vice is that he will run given a chance, so a fenced yard is a MUST!
