Has a Home

10/29/04 - Sonya has gone to live with a young family that has 3 boys & a border collie named Murphy.  The oldest boy was delighted to learn that the name he wanted, Sophie, would be perfect for this dog & that she wouldn't even blink at the change.  Sophie is very similar to the neardie they lost last year & this was another "perfect" adoption - everything just magically fell into place.  Sophie just hopped quite happily into the car to go home with them & everything has been great since.  She even went trick-or-treating with the family on Halloween & was shown off to all the neighbors.  Another very happy ending - the best kind!

Original Story 10/26/04 - Sonya was picked up as a stray in E. KY last Spring & fostered there until she was included in a transport to IL Oct. 24.  She is about 3 years old, spayed, housebroken, & has nice house manners.  She weighs about 45 lbs. & could probably stand to shed a few pounds - she wasn't on a very healthy diet.

She is every bit as sweet as she is cute & gets along well with other dogs - not sure about cats.  When she was found, she was matted to the skin & had been a stray for some time, apparently abandoned on the mountain by her owners.  The foster mom told me this happens all the time in that area & that she & her husband (a minister) are always on the lookout for strays, as well as having folks just leave them at their gate.  Sonya had to be shaved down & so far her coat is a good 3" long & very soft.  Sonya Sitting
Sonya's cute face She was matted when she arrived here, but was as good as could be letting me comb her out.  She's very playful, & *loves* being an indoor dog!
