Patch
Has a Home

Patch went to his new home Saturday, Oct. 16, 2004.  His new family already has a Cairn terrier, so the plan was for Patch & I to go meet them & see how the boys got along, then we'd leave & they'd talk it over & let me know.  Well, the two dogs were agreeable from the get-go & Patch did his thing, standing up on his hind legs & ever so elegantly giving his prospective new mom a kiss.  Since she wanted a dog that would give kisses, that was all it took!!  She did not want him to leave & they even cancelled their evening plans to spend time at home with Patch to help him settle in.  Patch has been marking a bit more than he should be, but he's getting better & seems to have realized he better not blow such a good home!!  He's got a beautiful big back yard, a "brother" to play with & windows low enough that he can look out & watch the world go by.  His new mom works from a home office, so he has plenty of her company, too.  I could not ask for a better home for this boy & was rather sad to see him go.  He was very well-behaved while here & he has such an expressive face, with a gentle temperament.

Original Story 10/5/04 - Patch is 4-5 years old & was picked up as a stray & thrown in a miserable dog pound, where he stayed for 3 weeks & somehow wore off the hair on his hind legs.  He was sprung just hours before he was due to be put down.  He's been neutered, is up-to-date on all his shots, & has been given a clean bill of health by my vet, who told me "his daddy was a travelling man" as I left.

He is absolutely adorable & is every bit as sweet as he is cute.  He behaves beautifully in the house & he's housebroken.  He loves to be outside & he loves to run, so he must have a fenced yard.

He's medium size & weighs about 28 pounds.  He is so friendly & gentle, he'd probably get along fine with cats - I don't have any to test him on!  When we brought him home, he wagged his tail for the whole 3 1/2 hrs. it took - we were amazed.  He doesn't have an aggressive bone in his body & is a wonderful companion.  He has a very expressive face, with large brown eyes & is such a happy fellow, he looks like he's smiling.
