Bo in Illinois
Has a Home

12/13/04 - Bo has gone to his new home on the East side of Michigan, where he will live on a small farm with his new dog mom & 5 cats.  First reports are that all is peaceful & Sharon is thrilled to pieces with Bo & his sweet & gentle disposition.  She took him to explore the outside of the house & he took care of the inside on his own before settling down for a nap after his long drive.  We met up at the MI/IN border to hand Bo over & he knew something was up - he was alert & looking out the window the whole way over there.

Once there, he did NOT want to get into Sharon's car, but once he finally was persuaded to hop in, he lay down behind the seats (in an SUV) & stared expectantly at all of us, as if to say, OK, I'm in, let's go.  It was obvious he was OK with the change & knew he was going "home".  This was a match made in heaven, since the shelter he was in had refused to let me have Bo originally, saying my home was too "urban" for a farm dog, & I had to get a helper to get him out by saying she lived on a farm!!!  How perfect is it that Bo is back on a farm with a huge fenced yard for his domain???

Original Story 12/03/04 - Bo is a very gentle soul; he's about 5 years old & has known only abuse & neglect until he came into Bone rescue.  Bo is neutered, heartworm negative & UTD on his shots.  He weighs 63 lbs. & is thin - he needs to gain about 10 lbs., which we're working on. He's housebroken & has wonderful house manners, except for counter-surfing!

He was taken, along with some other dogs, from his owner because of abuse & neglect; but then he languished in a wretched shelter for 10 mos.

When we got him, he was unbelievably filthy, matted, & quite terrified.  In spite of his history, he doesn't have a mean bone in his body & is warming up to us quite nicely - though he still expects abuse, his tail wags furiously (in a circle!!) when we talk to him. He is getting better every day about standing still to get his ears rubbed, which he loves.  He is deliriously happy to be an indoor dog & gets along extremely well with our dogs. He's so gentle & timid, he'd probably do very well with cats, too.

He's also figured out how to get the milkbone jar off the counter, but only if he thinks no one's watching.  He's had one bath & needs a second; he will probably lighten up even more.

Bo is a gentle soul who needs a loving, patient home & would love canine company.  Bo is as sweet as they come & if ever a dog deserved a good home & a second chance at a happy life, Bo is the one!   He's awfully special.
