2/22/04 - Arthur has gone to his new forever home with Susan & her menagerie, in Justice, IL.

Susan brought her gorgeous Black Lab, Monty, up to meet Arthur & Arthur seemed to know right away that she was his new mom, because there was quite a connection between Arthur & Susan. Monty could have cared less!! Susan is clearly a "dog person" & Arthur could not have gone to a more perfect home. Susan has a cat & a rabbit, along with fish & turtles, & has already called to report that all was bliss; Arthur had no interest in any of the resident menagerie, had had a romp with Monty & both were napping. Susan has done obedience & therapy work with her dogs & just loved Arthur's mellow disposition. She works from home, too, so Arthur will have plenty of company for the rest of his life. Susan had recently lost a beloved collie & said that Monty has been so depressed after losing his buddy, so she wanted Arthur to fill the void in both of their lives & he has already fit himself right in. I'd have loved to keep Arthur myself, but he has a much better home with Susan & will get lots of love & attention, which he so richly deserves. I love happy endings!

Original Story 02/20/04 - As you can see, Arthur is one very handsome dog & has a disposition to match - he is just a love. He's fairly quiet, but that may be because he's still adjusting to the changes in his life. His owner had to give him up because he had to go into a VA hospital & had no one to take Arthur, who is 5 years old. Arthur is mostly beardie, if not all; he may have some Old English in him, since he's a bit big for a Beardie.

He's dark gray going on black, with white toes & a white blaze on his chest, & he's just gorgeous - it's kind of hard to tell in the photos. The shelter had to shave him, but he does have a long, shaggy coat. He gets along very well with other dogs & paid no attention at all to the cats at the shelter, so he's a very mellow fellow. He's also had some training & is the only Beardie I've ever seen who will sit up & beg for a treat!

He's very sweet & loves attention, along with butt scratches! His owner said he's good with children & since he's so sweet, I'm sure that's true. He cocks his head when you talk to him & if that doesn't get you, nothing will! He is just a sweetheart.

His eyes will just make you melt!!
