Shane (Skip)
Getting a new home
| Skip (was called Shane) is going to a new home
Update 06/08/00 - Skip (Shane) will get a new home as early as this weekend. He is scheduled to go to New York near Buffalo to adopt his new family Bruce and Sandy Cantara Update: Skip, as he was re-named by the current home, once again needs a home. His stay with his current family must end as they found they were not home enough to give him the attention every dog should get.. He is very loving, wants to play, and is a young male. He will be neutered soon and then needs a new home. He has had some accidents in the house - and it seems no one is home to potty train him. The vet feels these accidents will eventually come under control (especially once he is neutered). He is now free of heartworm after treatment, and should live a long healthy life. He needs human contact (in fact he craves it). Shane was found in a Shelter in Indiana by Glenn Short and the BCCA. He was be re-named "Skip" after one being called Buffy. He was thought to be all Bearded Collie. But further evaluation revealed that he is likely a mix. He is small - 17.5 inches - and currently 23 pounds. He sure looks and acts like a beardie. The BCCA Generously approved kenneling him until the determination as to his status of a beardie was confirmed. He also received his DHLPP 5 way vaccinations and Rabies and Heartworm check. Unfortunately he did not qualify for further funds, and has been turned over to BONE to complete his rescue. He was found to have Heartworm - and has received treatment. Glenn will continue to coordinate his treatment and has found a loving home for him with the Delaney's in Indiana, where he is currently being fostered. The vet feels he will grow to be about 30 pounds. Glenn Short gdshort@beardie.net
We are still taking donations to help cover the medical costs that helped make Skip healthy again. Shane had heartworm and one retained Testicle (that will require surgery). We need donations to help cover the costs to bring him back to health and get his weight back up to normal. There is another photo below. Several members of BONE have already contributed. But more funds are needed. These treatments are currently being paid for by a BONE member's credit card. If you wish to donate: Please contact Carolyn Savage to make your donation twcasavage@mindspring.com Send a check made out to B.O.N.E. and send to: Carolyn Savage
