Daisy (was Marci)
fromOhio to Connecticut

Has a Home

We are the lucky family to have been chosen to adopt Marci. In 1987 -- having no idea what a Beardie/Neardie was, we adopted "Socrates". In the years to follow, we learned that it is the most precious animal God ever made. We had 14 1/2 of the best years with him. In September, we had to put him to sleep to save him from the pain he was experiencing (something we could have lived with but would never ask of him). It took us a long time before we could even entertain the idea of having another animal to be part of our family (it had nothing to do with the love we had to give, only that we didn't feel his place should be filled). We learned over time that his spot will always be "HIS PLACE", but that we missed the love we had to share with another animal.

It was then that we learned about the Beardie/Neardie Rescue and BONE. I have read so many rescue pages and seen so many happy adoptions, I knew ours would surface. Then came MARCI -- and with her, GINNY. What a wonderful experience it has been. Ginny has guided us through so many steps (as did my Guardian Angel Barbara in California). From Barbara in CA, I knew to get on to the BONE network before I even had my first cup of coffee in the morning. Because of all this help, MARCI of Ohio is now DAISY of Connecticut

On Saturday, August 25th, Marci of Ohio flew from Cleveland to Newark Airport to become Daisy of Connecticut. We had been working on getting Daisy to the East Coast for weeks, and with her TERRIFIC foster mom's support (GINNY), we succeeded. Daisy looked a little apprehensive at the airport as her new family approached her crate with video cameras going. The "cookies" seemed to win her over!!

The trip back to Connecticut must have been peaceful enough because halfway home she fell asleep (she had already experienced enough travel and "awake hours" for one day). Once in Ct, she decided to take her time and explore her "new digs" on her own. She loves to be out on the deck and walk among the flower-filled planters. She always seems to emerge with blooms on her head -- so we just may have a little flower child on our hands.

She has adapted so quickly -- she loves to play, kiss, and be the first with her nose in the refrigerator when you open the door. Her manners are "PERFECT"', and she is so smart. She has won over the steady stream of friends who have come "bearing gifts". Her favorites are her new bones and a small basketball which she retrieves but will not give up!!! She loves
the car (especially with the top down) and goes EVERYWHERE with us.
We are so grateful to all the BONE people who make families complete by providing us with these precious family additions. Daisy has shown us just how much we missed the love and companionship they provide. Again, thank you so much for our new treasure.
