Major in Georgia
Has A Home

Major has a home. He assumed command over a platoon of toy poodles. I visited the home of Nancy and Jack Baker on 3/2/01. They have a nice home, clean, and clearly geared toward their dogs. They are smart and experienced dog people who have rescued dogs in the past and understand the level of commitment and love a rescue dog requires.

Major was very well behaved and seemed to be happy to be around Naomi and was gentle and kind towards the oldest male poodle (who was brought out to meet Major). I think Major will be very happy to have a female playmate again (he was raised with a "sister" per his previous owner). They have a big yard that is separated into 2 areas, a smaller one for the poodles and a larger one (about 1 acre) for the "big" dogs. Major will have a wonderful new life with the Bakers.

The Original Story

3/7/01 MAJOR was a 3 year old Bearded Collie mix. Black, with freckled black and white feet. He weighs about 45 pounds, but should fills out some more.

He appeared healthy, and recieved all his vacinations. He appeared to be fully housebroken and would go immediately upon being let outside.

He is very smart and knows his name, "no", and the command for "come". He learned "Sit" in only one day. We are now working on "down", "stay" and "Off". He craves attention and is very affectionate. He gives big hugs and lots of kisses. Most of the time, he wants to be on my lap.

He got along well with my Neardie and other dogs. He acted more like an older dog and doesnt appear to have a high energy level and didn't exhibit any destructive behavior. Major seemed fine in my 1000 sq ft condo. He was good with the children with whom he has interacted.
