Jett - a Christmas '99 Rescue in Ohio.
A rescue volunteer, who wishes only to be identified as Lisa, called Glenn Short before Christmas '99 and advised of an all black (maybe a little white) beardie girl looking dog in a shelter near the Dayton Ohio area. Although the BCCA was the initial contact, it soon became apparent that Jett would better fit BONE's objectives. She had been in the shelter over a week and time was running out.

Many of our regulars volunteered to help with the transportation - including John Jacobson and Pat Columbo. Glenn went to his rescue waiting list and noticed he had  a couple in Ohio that had been waiting a long time, and also had offered to foster if the need arose.  When Mary and Jim Laird  heard of the little girl, they offered (almost insisted) to make the trip all by themselves.  They would certainly foster and possibly adopt.  So they planned the few hour trip to the shelter.  The shelter people were very happy that both the BCCA and BONE responded, and thus reserved the beardie girl when they found out how long the drive was.

Mary and Jim set out for the shelter first thing on the Monday after Christmas.  A snow storm came up during the trip, but they arrived in time to pick Jett up. During the long ride home through the heavy snow, Mary and Jim fell in love with Jett.  Jett who is about 9 months and all black (maybe just a touch of white on one foot) and they think mostly beardie. They have a couple small (and older - 10 and 12 year) dogs - all are getting along wonderfully.  Jett is now a loved family member.
