. 01/02/03 Hank went to live with Dawn Decker of San Antonio, Texas who wrote: Hank is GREAT! It is as if he had waited for our family all of his life. He immediately warmed to us and jumped in our car like "well, it's about time...let's go home." He and James (our 15 year old son) bonded the entire trip (all 6 hours of the drive...we didn't realize Tyler was so far away but for Hank, it was worth the drive). After 4 hours into the trip home, we stopped at Ft. Hood to cash a check to get dinner. Hank did not like the soldiers who approached the car when we stopped to ask for directions. He would growl very low and softly until the windows were back up and then he got all happy again. It was as if he was saying "this is my family now and don't you hurt them." We found that although he liked the dog food and biscuits we brought with us, he LOVED the Wendy's cheeseburger we bought him. When we got him to the house, he walked in like he has lived here all his life. He and Logan (our 10 mo. old boxer/dalmation mix puppy) are buddies and he isn't even phased by the cat. He slept on the floor on my side of the bed and only woke when Logan jumped on him to tell him it was morning and time to go outside. He is definitely bearded collie in his personality. (He even grabs at our hands/arm with his paws to pet him just like Daulton our beardie did.) So I think it's going to be a good match. Thanks again!! Dawn Decker OriginalStory 12/1/02This is Hank. His family decided that they no
longer wanted him and took him to the pound. Someone there recognized
him as a beardie mix and called us. Now he is in a foster home in Tyler,
Texas recovering from heartworms. Because of his beautiful blue eyes
and predominantly white coat, we think he is beardie/aussie mix.
