DoubleTree Sonoma Wine Country
The Bearded Collie Club of the Golden West is once again pleased to be your host of the BCCA National Specialty week in the beautiful Sonoma Wine Country. This is the fourth national specialty that we have hosted and promise to make this another memorable, fun filled gathering for you and your bearded collies. We are proud to have a very knowledgeable and well respected slate of judges for all venues who are traveling here from all parts of the globe.
We will begin your “2008 A VINTAGE YEAR” experience with two days of herding trials at Herding 4 Ewe in Vacaville on Saturday 10-25 and Sunday 10-26. We will be adding some new trial challenges for your beardies with Geese courses, as well as Sheep, Ducks and an Instinct Test.
For those of you who are looking for conformation shows in Dixon instead, on Friday 10-24 the BCCGW will be offering Bearded Collie support at the Northern California Herding Group Association’s AKC show, followed by the Sacramento Valley Dog Fanciers AKC shows on the 25th and 26th. All three shows will be held at the Dixon May Fairgrounds. (Please note to stay at “Herding Hotels” conveniently located in Dixon).
On Sunday night we move to our host hotel, the Doubletree Sonoma Wine Country in Rohnert Park. Some of you may have had the opportunity to join us for the 1997 BCCA Herd It Though the Grapevine national which was also at the Doubletree. If you thought it was lovely then, the hotel has since been transformed into a luxurious “4 Star” wine country resort with every amenity at our fingertips!
In order to meet the growing needs of our Agility beardies, we have secured the spacious lawns of the Sonoma-Marin Fair grounds, just 10 minutes down Hwy 101 in Petaluma for our Monday trial. On Monday evening we invite you to enjoy some “Tastes of Sonoma” at our annual Welcome Party at the Doubletree hotel.
Tuesday through Friday, you will literally be able to wake up and roll out of your comfy bed to the Doubletree lawns for Obedience, Rally and Conformation venues. Tuesday we have planned a healing Health Seminar, and Wednesday don’t miss our delicious and always fun Annual Auction and Dinner.
If you can’t seem to get out and see the sites on your own, plan to join us on Thursday afternoon for our Vintage Year Wine Country Tour. The fall colors should be spectacular and you will be treated like a VIP!
Our Friday begins with Junior Showmanship, continues with our Bearded Collie Best of Breed, Stud Dog and Brood Bitch classes. You won’t want to miss our Annual Awards Banquet finale on October 31st with plenty of treats planned for all.
