Judge’s Education:
Following bitch judging on Friday, October 5th the BCCA will host a judge’s education seminar presented by our judge education chairperson Chris Walkowicz. This seminar is a great opportunity for all prospective Beardie judges and will include hands on examination. Ringside mentoring by BCCA mentors will also be available. The concept of Multimodal Pain management ( use of multiple drugs, allowing better pain relief through synergy, and allowing for lower does of each which is safer) in 3 forums:
1) Pre and Perioperative Pain Management…What the latest and state of the art practices are for surgical, and dental pain management procedures
2) Postoperative Pain Management…What can and should be prescribed after your animal goes through various procedures, and how long they should receive pain management
3) Chronic Pain Management… treatments for canine hip dysplasia, and other osteoarthritis conditions, and diseases states such as itervertebral disc diseases, osteosarcoma etc…
Steve Escobar DVM
Dr. Escobar is a 1990 graduate of the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine ( VMRCVM) at VA Tech. He received the Outstanding Young Alumnus Award from the College in 2001. Dr. Escobar served as President of the CVVMA ( Central Virginia Veterinary Medical Association) in 1995, and has been legislative chair for the VVMA ( Virginia Veterinary Medical Association) for several years. He served on the Executive Committee of the VVMA for four years, and as President in 2004. Dr. Escobar was a member of the Dean search committee for the VMRCVM in 2004, and has been a member of the Admissions Committee for the college. He currently serves as vice-chair of the Clinical Advisory Committee for the VMRCVM. He has a special interest in canine reproductive medicine and is a member of the Society for Theriogenology, VVMA, AVMA, and AAHA.
