President's Report:President Schroeder welcomed the Board and the general members in attendance. Recording Secretary's Report:Recording Secretary Alspaugh read and handed out a copy of her annual report which will be submitted at the Annual General Membership Meeting. Corresponding Secretary's Report:Corresponding Secretary Zagarella reported that inquiries have fallen since May. Treasurer's Report:Treasurer Marple noted that we have 1,017 members:939 U.S., 39 Canadian, and 39 Overseas.He also reported that as of September 30, 2000, we have a cash balance of $112,729.79, prior to reconciliation.
COMMITTEE REPORTS All committee reports will be presented at the Annual General Membership Meeting.
MEMBERSHIP BALLOT Board members handed in their membership ballots.The following persons were voted into the club:Shane and Elizabeth Rank, Michael Pottow and Rita Sturm, Colleen Vogel, Larry and Deborah Furlow, Deborah Cutler, Sally and Lesley Tomlinson, Pearl and Robert Stokoe.
MOTIONS BALLOTS 10/00-02Alspaugh moved to ratify all actions taken by the Board of Directors from July 1, 1999 through the present date.Campbell-Gracie seconded.Unanimously approved. 09/00-00Motion to approve the minutes of the September 21, 2000 meeting.(Alspaugh)Unanimously approved. 10/00-01Motion to amend SR 10/84-03 as follows:Annually, the BCCA Board shall appoint an Auditing Committee to examine the Treasurer's books and make a formal report to the membership.The committee shall consist of one Board Member other than the Treasurer, and two members from the general membership.The Audit Committee shall be appointed in May, and its report shall be given at the September Board meeting.The committee may hire the services of an independent party to review the books and assist the committee in preparing its report to the BCCA Board.Such independent party shall be an accounting and auditing firm or an individual accountant who is a Certified Public Accountant.The Board will approve the independent party and the proposed fee prior to the party being engaged.(Marple)

NEW BUSINESS Proposed Motion 11/00-01:Ann Witte addressed the Board regarding the Herding Committee's reasoning behind the proposed motion. Specialty Judges and Amending SR 05/83-04:Discussion was held regarding possibly changing the current system of national specialty judge selection.It was felt that input from the membership was needed and to accomplish that a proposed motion could be presented at the annual membership meeting, thereby allowing for discussion. Award of 2002 Specialty:Sandy Remell and Lisa Voss presented the Bearded Collie Club of the Golden West's bid for the 2002 National Specialty.Carter moved to accept the BCCGW's bid for the 2002 National Specialty to be held in Vallejo, California.Marple seconded.Unanimously approved. Health Committee and the AKC Canine Health Information Service:Sue Glatzer gave an overview of the AKC/CHF Canine Health Information Center (CHIC) program.Teri Fleming then presented the Board with a written proposal for the BCCA to participate in the CHIC health registry program, initially targeting hip dysplasia, elbow dysplasia, cataracts and thyroid.Lybrand moved that the BCCA participate in the CHIC program pursuant to the Health Committee's written proposal.Zagarella seconded.Unanimously approved.Teri then gave the Board an update on the Addison's research being done by the CHF and requested that the Board release additional funds in this regard.Campbell Gracie moved to authorize Teri Fleming to release the BCCA's second $4,000 to CHF for the Addison's research.Carter seconded.Unanimously approved. Distribution of the Illustrated Standard:Discussion was held regarding to whom the Illustrated Standard will be distributed once it is completed, and at what cost (i.e., provided free of charge to licensed judges). Beardie Bulletin Subscriptions:Subscriptions will continue for the present time. Beardie Bulletin Contract:Campbell-Gracie moved to approve Lillian Esposito as the Beardie Bulletin editor.Zagarella seconded.Unanimously approved. CERF Chairperson:Campbell-Gracie moved to appoint Jean Kennedy as CERF Chairperson.Van Sluys seconded.Unanimously approved. Publication of Board Minutes and Proposed Motions on the BCCA Website:To allow members adequate time to voice their views, as soon as it is feasible for the Webmaster, Board minutes, including proposed motions, will be added, and updated monthly, on the BCCA's website. Allocation of Auction Profits:Specialty auction chairpersons should follow SR 10/93-04:"Twenty-five (25) percent of the profit from the auction held in conjunction with the National Specialty shall be donated to the Beardie Rescue Fund."This information should be noted on auction donation materials. Great Lakes Bearded Collie Club 2002 Regional Specialty:Mary Billman requested permission for the GLBCC to use the BCCA's license to hold a regional specialty in 2002. Timeline for Committee Chairs Appointment:Discussion was held regarding changing the time committee chairs are appointed to allow the incoming Board to make appointments. Futurity:Lybrand presented a written proposal to hold futurity stakes at national specialties. Breed Pamphlet Revision for AKC:Amber Carpenter will revise the breed pamphlet and submit it to the Board for approval. Amendment of 08/96-06 Dealing with Judges' Subscriptions to the Beardie Bulletin:Marple moved to amend the second sentence of 08/96-06 to read:"The list of free subscriptions will be purged on an annual basis when the Judges Education Chair sends a mailing to the recipient of each free subscription inquiring as to whether or not they wish to continue receiving the Bulletin."Lybrand seconded.Unanimously approved. Agility Committee:Lybrand moved to approve Karen Barrett as Co-Chair of the Agility Committee.Van Sluys seconded.Approved by a majority of those present and voting.
There being no further business, the annual meeting of the BCCA Board was adjourned at 10:05 p.m.
